Three WMST students selected for College Advocate program
Three Washington Math Science Technology Public Charter High School juniors have recently been selected to participate in a program that prepares high-achieving students for the competitive admissions process at top-ranked colleges and universities.
Ricardo Dupree, Wendy Portillo and Mickala Wade from WMST PCHS's Class of 2012 are participating in the College Advocate Program, which was established in 2009 to benefit highachieving, low-income high school students from Washington. Over a two-year period, each student attends SAT Prep classes, visits outstanding colleges and universities and receives assistance with college applications, essays and financial forms and advocacy on their behalf with college admissions offices.
The College Advocate Program staff seeks to treat each child in the program as though they were their own children. The program also works with 20 students from Cesar Chavez Public Charter HighSchool for Public Policy and Ballou Senior High School.
