NASA Administrator Charles Bolden to speak at WMST Graduation June 3

NASA Administrator Charles F. Bolden, Jr., will serve as the keynote speaker at the Washington Math Science Technology Public Charter High School graduation on June 3 at 10 a.m. The Class of 2010 graduation ceremony will take place at Cramton Auditorium at Howard University in Washington.
A retired Marine Corps major general who served for 34 years, Charles Bolden became the 12th administrator for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration on July 17, 2009, following his nomination by President Barack Obama and confirmation by the U.S. Senate. He is the first African-American to serve as NASA Administrator on a permanent basis.
His military career included flying more than 100 combat missions as a Naval aviator over Cambodia, Laos, North and South Vietnam from 1972-1973.
During his Marine career, he also served for 14 years in the NASA Astronaut Office (1980-1994). Between 1986 and 1994, he travelled to orbit four times aboard the space shuttle, commanding two missions. His flights included the deployment of the Hubble Space Telescope, and the first joint U.S.-Russian shuttle mission, when a cosmonaut served on his crew.
