WMST receives School Resource Officer

Following Mayor Adrian Fenty's directive earlier this month that many charter schools should receive the same type of police coverage as District of Columbia Public Schools, Washington Math Science Technology Public Charter High School has a 20-year veteran of the Metropolitan Police Department assigned to it.

Officer Thomas Marshall is a District native who is assigned to the Fifth District School Safety Division from 8:30 a.m. To 4:00 p.m. weekdays. He's working at WMST not just to prevent criminal activities but also to instruct and teach WMST students. The former patrol officer and investigator called WMST a “great school” with “great instructors.”

He worked in the First District for 19 years before coming to the Fifth District and has worked as a School Resource Officer for five years, so he has a lot of experience working with teenagers in the District.
