WMST Public Charter High School Strengthens College Prep Program
WMST Public Charter High School eleventh graders this school year are taking an SAT elective course that seeks to eliminate the economic bias often associated with the SAT test, particularly toward low-income students, as they move towards the goal of successful college admission in 2011.
WMST PCHS has hired Real Solutions Educational Consulting, Inc., of Turnbull, Conn., the nation's only SAT prep program focused on urban and rural college-bound students. Fifty WMST juniors are taking the SAT elective course, designed by Ron Sabad and Karen Miller, and two WMST teachers are serving as instructors. Fifty high schools in five states use Real Solutions Educational Consulting, and the company is providing curriculum materials, teacher training and support services.
“WMST constantly strives to provide the best instruction and greatest opportunities for
our students,” said WMST Head of School Mark Holbrook. “We believe that Real Solutions will give our students the additional instruction and opportunities that our students, faculty, and parents demand.”
